Men With Brooms
Men With Brooms, written and directed by Paul Gross is full of typical cliches, yet has a lot of heart. Sharing the screen with Leslie Nielsen, Molly Parker and a bunch of beavers four men reunite as a curling team to compete in a bonspiel to restore the honor of their former coach. This very Canadian based film has some quality despite it’s rough edges. Men With Brooms feels like a well done indie film. It is chock full of all the Canadian troupes and we are here for it. Leslie Nielsen does not disappoint in this role as the grumpy older coach that knows just what to do to motivate his team.
Chris Cutter: No, it’s not just a rock.
Amy Foley: No?
Chris Cutter: It’s forty-two pounds of polished granite, bevelled on the belly and a handle a human being can hold. And it may have no practical purpose in itself but it is a repository of human possibility and if it’s handled just right, it will exact the kind of poetry…
