Killdeer Can See a Rough Cut from Its Backyard

Principal photography for Killdeer wrapped nine months ago but I am still working through the edit. In my defense, I had another short film (Heart Monitor) to edit, another short film (The Last Artist) to shoot, and preproduction to begin on a feature film (Retirement Party). We’re busy little beavers. (Or ducks, depending on which side you choose.)

Scene 9 was the hardest to shoot and promised to be the hardest to edit. Which it was. I hope that I captured the essence of the scene with my edits and that it packs an emotional punch for the viewers. It certainly was very emotional for me to edit it. Even just the audio alone of the performances of Rebecca Brown and Todd Hermanson impacted me.

Just two more scenes to finish and I’ll have a rough cut of the film. As I don’t feel strong with color or sound correction, I may still have quite some distance to go before a final cut. But getting through scene 9 is an important milestone.
